Knifeman is jailed for stab threats

A knife-wielding man has been jailed for 10 months after threatening a man sleeping in his ex-girlfriend’s house.
Justin Owens, 29, of Box Lane, West Felton, near Oswestry, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, where Judge Robin Onions sentenced him to eight months in jail for affray and two months for assault. He had admitted the charges.
The court heard Owens’ ex-partner Nicola Royce had been out in Wrexham with friends and returned home to West Felton with a group of people, including Conner Penrose and Thomas Clowes on October 8.
Mr Penrose fell asleep in an upstairs bedroom, when Mr Clowes and Owens burst in, waking him after 3am.
Mr Penrose could see Mr Clowes was upset and Owens started telling the men he was going to stab them.
Owens then punched Mr Clowes and Mr Penrose ran away, with Owens kicking him in the back.
Mr Robert James Edwards, prosecuting, said Owens kicked Mr Clowes in the back as he went downstairs.
“Owens then left the house with the knife still in his hand,” Mr Edwards said.
Miss Debra White, for Owens, said it was an emotional incident he regretted.
Judge Onions told Owens: “This was terrifying for the men.”
