Bosses’ plans to extend Bishop’s Castle hospital

Health bosses are planning to extend Bishop’s Castle Community Hospital, just months after a £1.3 million redevelopment.
Plans which have been submitted to Shropshire Council by South Staffs and Shropshire NHS Foundation Trust outline proposals for two extensions including a glazed sitting room and a porch.
The hospital, which specialises in rehabilitation and end-of-life care, unveiled ensuite rooms, a reception, entrance areas, a palliative care suite and a walled garden in April.
A planning says: “The glazed extension to the dining room will act as a sitting room for residents, allowing them to look onto an internal courtyard.
“The porch to a residents and relative room will provide shared space that can also be used for a similar purpose. Both extensions will provide access to outdoor spaces.”
It adds: “The proposed rooms will provide additional space to the dining room and a small porch area to a residents’ and relatives’ room.”
