Family forced to flee after Telford blaze at home
Monday 5th December 2011, 2:29PM GMT.
A couple were forced to grab their two children and flee their Telford home after a tumble dryer caught fire.
Their pet dog was killed in the blaze.
Clint Hall was watching TV in bed at around 1.30am this morning when he smelt what he thought was toast burning at the family home in Nevil Road, Wellington.
The 33-year-old went downstairs to investigate and was confronted by a ball of flames after opening the utility room door.
Mr Hall said he dragged the three dogs – bull mastiff Keisha, border collie Jack and black labrador Maicey – out into the back garden before attempting to tackle the fire with an extinguisher from the boot of his car.
He shouted upstairs to wife Emma, 31, to grab their sons Joshua, 12, and Jacob, nine, and get out of the house.
The family escaped unhurt – but Keisha later had to be put down from injuries suffered in the blaze.
