More Shropshire schools added to strike closure list

More Shropshire schools were added to a closure list today ahead of the biggest day of strike action in 30 years. There are 65 primary schools in the
Shropshire Council area due to close or be partially closed in Wednesday’s 24-hour union walk-out over pensions, while 21 secondary schools will also close.
The latest to announce they will be closed are Pontesbury Primary, The Marches School and Technology College in Oswestry, The Mary Webb School & Science College in Pontesbury and The Sundorne School and Sports College in Shrewsbury.
Tilstock Primary School is no longer on the closure list.
In the Telford & Wrekin Council area, 49 schools will close.
Contingency plans are in place to ensure Shropshire hospitals will be able to cope.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has suspended some non-urgent clinics and cancelled a number of appointments.
However, anyone affected will be contacted by the Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust to have their appointments rearranged.
