Graham Turner happy despite Shrewsbury Town loan deal failures
Saturday 26th November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Boss Graham Turner insists he is is happy with his Shrewsbury Town squad – despite missing out on targets on loan deadline day.
Shrewsbury have been hit by a number of injuries to defenders especially in recent weeks and the Town chief did look to bring in re-inforcements ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
But his efforts to have a new face in the ranks in time for today’s home clash with Morecambe proved to be in vain.
“We had a little bit of a dabble for a couple of players but it didn’t materialise in the end,” said Turner.
“I’m not totally unhappy with what we’ve got.
“Defensively, we’ve got Carl Regan back in full training now and Jermaine Grandison is making reasonable process – he’s probably going to be anther month but he should be fit in time for the Christmas games and the New Year games.
“I would have strengthened if the right person had been available but the players we enquired about were not available.”
Shrewsbury already have three loan players in the ranks – James Wallace from Everton, Cardiff’s Aaron Wldig and James Hurst from West Brom.
And, with all three being on youth loan terms, Turner would be free to extend those deals outside the transfer window.
“We can extend the players’ loans, there should be no problem with that,” he confirmed.”
