The parents of a 20-year-old motorcyclist who died following an accident in Telford today paid tribute to their “loveable gentle giant”.

Jamie Smart, from Trench in Telford, died on Monday.

His parents Garry and Tina, sister Kelly, 26, brother Sam, 19, and fiancee Lorraine Joynson,23, said they were all devastated by his death.

Mrs Smart said her son was looking forward to the birth of another nephew in March – the month he was due to celebrate his 21st birthday.

She said: “Jamie loved cars and motorbikes – if anybody had any problems mechanical wise he would go to help them.

“He was a gentle giant, always smiling and cheeky, extremely loveable and soft natured. ” Mr Smart’s father, Garry, said: “Jamie would do anything for anyone. If he was doing something for someone else he was happy.”

Mr Smart’s fiancee, Miss Joynson said they had been together for about five years and they were looking forward to Christmas together.

“I loved him loads and he’ll be missed by lots of people. I’d also like to thank everyone for their supportive messages,” she said.

Mr Smart was riding his Yamaha 250cc bike with his friend as pillion when the accident happened in Ketley at 7.40pm on Sunday. His friend suffered leg injuries.

He was a former pupil of Sutherland Business and Enterprise College and worked away during the week as a gas service layer.
