A motorcyclist died today after a crash in Telford which left two other people injured.
The man, aged 20, suffered multiple injuries in the accident in Ketley last night and he died this morning.
The victim has been named locally as Jamie Smart, from Telford.
One message on flowers left at the scene read: “Dear Jamie, I really can’t believe this has really happened. I want us all to wake up from this nightmare.”
The accident happened at about 7.40pm and is the second fatal accident involving a motorcyclist in Telford in the last five days
Last Thursday, father-of-two Trevor Leese, of Oakengates, died in a crash just a short distance away in Hadley.
Last night the Yamaha motorcycle, carrying a rider and a pillion passenger, was travelling along Station Road, from the direction of the Ketley Cod chip shop, when it was in collision with a Ford Fiesta, police said.
The motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital. The pillion passenger – also aged 20 – suffered leg injuries. He was also taken to the PRH and his condition was today described as stable.
The driver of the car, a 22 year-old woman, was taken to hospital with pains in her back and chest.
A Telford Police spokeswoman said this afternoon: “There would have been a few people in the area, either visiting the chip shop or passing through in their vehicles.
“We would appeal to those individuals to come forward with any information they may have.”
Steve Parry, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: “A man in his 20s suffered multiple trauma injuries and received treatment at the scene by ambulance crews. He was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar and transferred by ambulance to Princess Royal Hospital.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or via the Crimestoppers line 0800 555111.
