Letter: Billions sent to the EU while our elderly freeze

As the cold winter weather approaches, the contempt that this Government holds for the elderly of this country becomes apparent.

Their winter fuel allowance has been reduced from £400 to £300. A reduction of 25 per cent.

At the same time, our Government is more concerned with abolishing the 50p tax rate that only affects their rich friends in the City, who are already taking home an obscene wage. In addition, they are dispatching billions to the EU and other countries to help them look after their people and their elderly.

When are the leaders of this country going to realise that you look after your own first?

I suppose that nothing ever changes. Under the Tories the rich always get richer whilst the poor get poorer.

reduction is justified, we need as with the child tax credit, which was slashed for families earning over 40k a year this payment needs to be slashed, it is obscene to give this money to those that are not in need .

Lets face it, this policy will reduce the problem of an ageing population decrease the amount of pension money paid out. Decrease the problem of elderly patients blocking hospital beds. A 25% reduction in winter fuel payments should be linked to a 25% reduction in ministers salaries and expenses, more money would be saved, than by cutting the pittance given to pensioners, to quote a phrase simples.

why are you surprised no one looks after the elderly they have to look after themselves just like unemployed no one cares anymore.

the only people who care are the ones who make money out of it.
