Bomere Heath driver on two murder bid charges

Tuesday 15th November 2011, 10:59AM GMT.

A motorist has been charged with attempting to murder a woman and child after allegedly deliberately driving his car into a lorry on the A49.

Simon Brown, whose address was given in court as Old Woods, Bomere Heath, near Shrewsbury, appeared at Hereford Magistrates yesterday after a crash on the road last Friday.

The 31-year-old is charged with two counts of attempted murder after the smash on the road near Holmer, Hereford.

Detective Inspector Jon Roberts said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision on Friday evening to come forward.

“Following the crash, there was temporarily a large queue of traffic. Some of the cars would have seen the collision but many of them did not stop and give their details to the police, probably because this would have appeared to them to be a minor collision.”

Brown was remanded into custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on November 21.

DI Roberts can be contacted via the West Mercia Police non-emergency line on 0300 333 3000.
