Wind turbines planned in Shropshire

A giant 150ft wind turbine could be built near Market Drayton to power a farm, it emerged today.

Bosses at Bawhill Farm in Adderley are behind plans for the 55kw wind turbine. They say it will be used to supply renewable electricity to the farm and farmhouse.

It comes as bosses of Winston Farm in Tetchill, near Ellesmere, have submitted similar plans to build a 119ft turbine.

And Wigley & Sons has also submitted a planning application to Shropshire Council for a 164ft turbine at Dandyford Farm in Hordley.

150ft giant turbine, really? 150 metres would be giant, 150ft is actually quite a small turbine.

It’s not, it will be HUGE ( approximately 45 meters) or (26 5 foot 6 girls piled on top of each other-MASSIVE!!)and will be seen by most residents of the village and at most places throughout the village.

The location given for this towering turbine is ridiculously close to the village, but also very close to the neighbouring property near the farm itself.
The height of the tower relative to the surrounding is the issue here.
It would stand out in the middle of a field on a hill, very close to the village and a residence.
This turbine would change the character of the beautiful landscape of North Shropshire, altering it permanently. The views, wildlife and the tranquillity of the surroundings would be affected now and in the future. This alternative form of power generation for the benefit of one, at the cost of many is not appropriate. In this case a wind turbine does not belong in the countryside this close to a village community.
If you are against this turbine tower in Adderley please see more information on Facebook – Adderley Village.
