November heading for record weather

Britain is heading for its warmest November for more than 350 years, experts predicted today.

It comes as Shawbury, near Shrewsbury, was recorded by the Met Office as the sunniest place in the West Midlands yesterday.

Temperatures across Shropshire hit a high of 14C (57F) yesterda,y while across the country temperatures reached 18C (65F) – making it one of the mildest weekends ever recorded for the time of year.

Britain’s highest ever temperature for a single day this late in the year was 20C (69F) at Aber, North Wales, on November 17, 1997.

But forecasters say the average temperature across the month could be the highest for hundreds of years.

They said, however, that temperatures were expected to return to normal in December.

Shropshire will remain in double figures today with highs of 10C (50F) predicted.
