Rail commuters face delays after signal failure

Rail passengers travelling between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton faced rush hour delays today because of a signal failure.

Services were delayed by up to an hour after a track circuit failure near Wolverhampton station meant all signals in the area went to red as a fail safe precaution.

The problem, which was first spotted at 4.20am, caused problems for commuters in both directions.
