Shropshire primary schools fail to hit targets
Thursday 10th November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
More than a third of primary schools in Shropshire have room for improvement, according to the latest report published by Ofsted.
The county’s sixth form colleges have also been told they can do better, with less than half said to be providing a ‘good’ education by the national watchdog. The report said well over a third of primary schools in the county were ‘no better than satisfactory’.
But despite this Ofsted rating, which follows visits and inspections, overall children’s services at Shropshire Council were said to be ‘performing well’.
The report said: “There is a continuing need to increase the proportion of primary schools that are good or better.
“As in 2010, well over a third of them are no better than satisfactory.
“One primary school is inadequate and, with the support of the local authority, is making satisfactory progress.”

I’m not surprised that the sixth form colleges do so badly, especially as their students spend such a lot of time in McDonalds in Pride Hill. I guarantee you’ll find a large group there at any time of the day. Exactly how much time do they actually spend in class?

I’m surprised by you John! These are “field trips”. Their tutor tells them, “look, if you don’t study hard you’ll end up working here, or, worse still, only being able to afford to eat here”
