Brockton farm sold for £5m – but buyer stays secret
Thursday 10th November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
A 613-acre farm in Shropshire has sold for more than £5 million – the largest sale of its kind in the county this year, agents announced today.
An anonymous local businessman bought the 613-acre Havenhills and Brockton Farms, at Brockton near Telford, which was marketed at a guide price of £5million in June.
Savills West Midlands, joint agents, said it generated enough interest to “substantially” exceed the figure and become the largest complete farm sale this year of a commercial farming business in Shropshire.
The exact sale price has not been revealed.
Tony Morris-Eyton, of Savills, said: “The sale underlines the confidence within the arable sector of the farmland market and also the rarity of such large scale holdings ever coming to the market in the area.”
Rob McCabe, of Bridgnorth-based Nock Deighton which was also involved in the sale, said: “Local interest was immense, outweighing interest from further afield.”
