Drivers caught in M54 crash tailbacks

Drivers were caught up in huge tailbacks between Shrewsbury and Telford during rush hour today after a van overturned on the A5.
The road was closed in one direction for drivers travelling from Shrewsbury to Telford between Wellington and the Preston island in Uffington after the crash just before 8am.
The accident happened at the end of the M54 near Junction 7.
Fire crews attended and released a man from the van, who was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with back injuries.
The crash caused delays on the eastbound side of the road as well but it was not closed and returned to normal soon after.
It also caused congestion on roads around the A5 including London Road, part of the A49 and part of the B5061, he said.
Three fire engines attended from Telford, Shrewsbury and Wellington.
The Midlands Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.
