Dog walker punched in face during Telford attack
Monday 7th November 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
A 42-year-old man out walking his dog was punched in the face several times during a late-night attack in Telford.
The man was walking in Limekiln Lane, Arleston, when he was assaulted at about 11pm yesterday.
Telford police spokeswoman Denise Wakefield said he was approached by a man and woman as they walked past the school.
She said: “The pair asked if they could stroke the man’s dog. The dog owner agreed and the pair stroked the animal.
“But the owner became concerned as the man pulled at the dog’s hair and asked him to stop stroking his pet.
“The man punched the dog owner to the face several times and both he and the female made off, possibly in a taxi.
“The dog owner summoned help from a neighbour and police were called.”
Mrs Wakefield said the victim suffered a bloodied nose and was checked over by paramedics, but did not need hospital treatment.
The suspect was in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins, slim built with shaven blond hair.
He was wearing a black top, blue jeans and a baseball cap and had a black and white Staffordshire bull terrier with him.
The woman was in her 20s, white, and around 5ft 8ins tall, with shoulder length blond hair and of large build.
She was wearing black leggings and a black fleece.
Anyone who saw the suspects or has information is urged to call Telford police on 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
