The West End Cinema, Park Street, Madeley, is all decked out in celebration of the Coronation in 1937. Under high magnification you can read the word ‘Coronation’ and the date 1937 on the two shield-like decorations either side of the circular window. Films The films advertised on the brick pillars are ‘Mary Burns, Fugitive’, and ‘Keeper of the Bees’ which, according to the internet, are both 1935 films, maybe they just took a little while to get to Madeley. The cinema had previously been called The Parkhurst. This picture is from Frank Boden who lives in Shifnal. It came to him from Michael Stead, of Donnington, whose parents were originally from the Madeley area.
