Shropshire MPs claim £8,000 expenses
Thursday 3rd November 2011, 1:58PM GMT.
MPs across Shropshire submitted their second lowest ever claims for expenses in June and July this year, according to Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority figures released today.
The six regional MPs claimed £8,051.22 or £132 a day. The total was the second lowest ever because it coincided with the MPs’ summer holidays. Figures are now released every two months after the expenses scandal.
The figures were higher than they might been because Conservative MP for The Wrekin Mark Pritchard, claimed £6,999.07, mostly relating to office bills.
The six MPs submitted included claims for London congestion charges, using their own cars, taxis and rail travel, office use, staffing and other fees incurred as part of their work.
The MP submitting the highest claim was Mr Pritchard, who requested recompense for travel, general administration, constituency rentals, staffing and accommodation.

nice little earner!!

It’s not an ‘earner’. That’s the cost of running six offices including staffing, plus six lots of national travel with overnight stays where appropriate. If you want to know where our money could really be saved, spend some time scrutinising Parliamentary committee minutes and talking to your MP about them, instead of wasting it on fatuous posts.

Incorrect. Expenses are not earnings.
