Market Drayton rock festival’s bigger venue hunt
Thursday 3rd November 2011, 10:56AM GMT.
Organisers of the Rock ‘n’ Bowl festival in Market Drayton said today they were looking for a new and bigger venue for the 2012 event – after turning away 300 people who wanted to get in this year.
The event, held at the Coach and Horses pub in Shropshire Street since it was launched in 2009, has raised almost £10,000 for various charities. It was created to replace the town’s cancelled carnival.
Money raised at next year’s Rock ‘n’ Bowl will go to charities and the Poppy Appeal.
But organiser Laurence Payne said a new location was needed for the festival on June 3 and 4 next year.
He said: “Every year, Rock ‘n’ Bowl seems to get bigger. So much so that last year, we had to turn away 300 people because we couldn’t accommodate them.”
