Mass brawl at Shrewsbury boxing night

A boxing night descended into a mass brawl involving dozens of people at a hotel in Shrewsbury, leaving two police officers injured as they battled to bring it under control.
Trouble flared in the bar at the Lord Hill Hotel in Abbey Foregate at the end of a show put on by Shrewsbury and Severnside Amateur Boxing Club. Police were forced to use CS spray to break up the brawl.
Two of the officers suffered minor injuries.
Three people were arrested after the fight on Friday night.
A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have been charged with assault on a police officer.
Another 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray but was released without charge.
Colin Hough, from the club, said he had been left ‘broken-hearted’ by the trouble, but insisted no-one from any of the 10 boxing clubs taking part had been involved.
