Broseley homes plan refused amid old mine fears

Plans to transform a Broseley field into a 107-home estate have been rejected amid fears old mining shafts could still exist.

Bloor Homes wanted to build the estate on land off Dark Lane. The plan had received objections from Broseley Town Council and 289 letters of complaint from residents. During yesterday’s South Shropshire Planning Committee meeting at Westgate, Bridgnorth, councillors had huge concerns over safety.

They were also worried about extra traffic and the density of the development.

The developers had added more affordable homes to try to get the application approved.

Councillor Milner Whiteman said: “A huge amount of work has been done by officers to try and get it accepted but this is not suitable for housing.”
