Tricksters in for a treat with Halloween weather

Monday 31st October 2011, 11:29AM GMT.

Trick-or-treaters across Shropshire will enjoy the end of one of the warmest Octobers on record tonight with temperatures expected to be as high as 14C (57F).

Halloween revellers will be enjoying almost spring-like temperatures with Shropshire expected to be warmer today than the UK average for October of 11.5C (52.7F) – making it the seventh warmest since records began in 1910.

The Met Office said the skies above the county would be partially cloudy tonight, but dry, up until about 9pm when some light rain is expected.

By midnight this is expected to turn into heavy rain showers with the temperature dipping to 12C (53F).

But trick-or-treaters will also need to hold onto their witch’s hats as the Met Office has said there will be gusts of up to 30 mph for most parts of the night.

So far England and Wales have had just over half their usual monthly rainfall for October.
