Hopefully this is just Phase 1. In Phase 2 they’ll tarmac over all those useless cross hatched areas and won’t bother repainting them.

That would be too much to hope for.

The cross hatched areas that have resulted in the rate of deaths and serious injuries decreasing massively since they were put in place?
To my knowledge, in the years since the speed limit on the EP was reduced to 60mph and the cross hatched areas were introduced, there has only been one death on the road and that was at the southern end where there aren’t any cross hatched areas.
Yes, they’re really useless at saving lives, aren’t they?

Are you talking about the cyclist last year who was hit by the driver who was scrabbling around for his sat-nav device? That happened on the modified southbound section between Wombridge and Greyhound. But I’m not suggesting the road layout had anything to do with it because that would be preposterous.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t casualties go UP, after the useless changes to the EP or does Harold have access to figures that the public don’t?
I am sorry to say but since the introduction of 60 MPH and hatches ect there has been more accidents per year. You would not know as Telford and Wrekin have since FAILED to show any updates on signs that were there for motorist to see (I wounder why)

Hear Hear orignal Jake.
And while they are at it – put the speed limit back to NSL for dual carriagways. (ie 70MPH – as it always was for 35 odd years) – The limit as it stands at 60mph IMO causes more problems. There is no reason I can see to keep it at 60.

and what about the rest of Telford?
Yes Jezza, let’s have NSL back on all the old NSL roads too.

Whilst the resurfacing teams are there, can they please remove the absurd split-lane configuration as southbound Queensway approaches the Oakengates turnoff (and in other
places as well) ?
This brainless idea, doubtless thought up by some anonymous think tank – none of who travel that road – just doesn’t work. There is not enough traffic on the Oakengates steep split road to warrant a dedicated lane, and it encourages high-speed undertaking.

60mph, I havn’t seen many doing that speed on there, more like 70+

I have to agree the 60mph speed limit on the EP is pointless.
For one thing, it is not inforced by any speed camera’s or speed detector vans.
Also I quite often travel at 60mph on the EP and the majority of cars overtaking myself must be travelling at 70mph or greater.

I never found any problem with the old dual carriageway setup. quick and convenient. Sure it got a bit busy at rush hour etc but no worse than any other road in the country.
I went back to Telford a couple of years ago and got confronted by this mind boggling piece of road that is now no longer a dual carriageway nor a single carriageway and to my mind alot more dangerous than it was before especially for travellers who aren’t aware of it’s existance. At the northern end of the EP there’s Pools Island or maybe it should be called Pools nightmare.

COME OFF IT….. i am sure we heave something better to talk about. Like how paint dries…
Report abuse
So, Steve, if that floats your boat….how does paint dry?
Slowly, and quietly!
i tell ya i would rather sit and watch it than read the boring posts on here.but if you interested read on…….. paint are mostley all oil based…..all paints dry on the wall in a very different way through a chemical reaction with the oxygen in the air. This causes the relatively small molecules in the oil to form much larger molecules which have a solid rather than liquid form.
