Letter: Lost in France song was no insult to Wales

Letter: I refer to the letter from Allan Biggs-Williams, of Burlton, regarding Shropshire Radio playing the song Lost in France following Wales’s defeat to France in the rugby. What a lot of fuss about nothing.

I live in England but work in Wales so can look at this from both sides. However, during the seven years or so that I have worked in Wales I have learned they never support any other country, other than Wales.

In fact when England have played rugby I often ask “Did you watch the match yesterday?”

The answer is always: ‘No, never watch them’.

As for Radio Shropshire. What a wonderful programme it is. My husband and I are regular listeners. I listen on my way into Wales, and we both listen to Colin and Jim as often as we are able.

Congratulations Radio Shropshire on a very entertaining programme. Keep on playing whatever you choose. You will never offend the English!

Back to the rugby – did Allan Biggs-Williams hear the Welsh manager say on prime time TV ‘I even considered cheating after our captain was sent off’?

What a thing to admit to, and what a bad example to our children that cheating could be acceptable.

As it happened he said he decided not to ask his players to cheat. I would hope they would not have followed his suggestion should it have gone any further.

All the rugby players, from whatever country, love their game and it is a delight to watch them all.

Finally, I have to say that Zara?Phillips’s husband let her down badly. Zara and Princess Anne are wonderful ambassadors for us and he should be ashamed that not only did he let them down but he also let his country down.
