More than 400 motorists in Mid Wales have been fined for using their mobile phones while driving during a two-week crackdown, police said today.
A total of 429 drivers in the Dyfed Powys Police force area were given fixed penalty noticed after being caught in the All-Wales crackdown in the last week of September and first week of October.
Across Wales 1,000 offences were recorded, with the majority of offenders falling into the over 26-year-old male category.
Ian Arundale, chief constable of Dyfed Powys Police, said he was vowing to crack down on the crime, saying people were four times more likely to crash while using their phone.
