Telford man awarded six-figure hospital payout
Tuesday 25th October 2011, 11:19AM BST.
A SHROPSHIRE MAN who claims his life was torn apart by medical mistakes has received a six-figure compensation package from NHS bosses, it was revealed today.
John Walker, who lives in St Georges, Telford, said he suffered a second stroke just three months after the first because a basic administration error saw medical staff fail to provide vital follow-up treatment.
Mr Walker, 64, said his fledgling courier business and personal life had been turned upside down by the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust mistake.
The trust today said it had reviewed ‘all aspects of care to ensure that lessons are learned’ and ‘sincerely apologised’ to him.
