Severn Trent to discuss Lake Vyrnwy sale plans
Wednesday 19th October 2011, 2:33PM BST.
Water company Severn Trent will be meeting Lake Vyrnwy residents in public for the first time since announcing the sale of the lease for the land around the reservoir in mid Wales.
A drop-in session will be held in the Llanwddyn Community Centre from 3pm to 8pm tomorrow to hear public views about proposals to sell the lease of the estate land to United Utilities, in partnership with RSPB Cymru.
A decision on the housing on the land has not yet been made.
Mike Duggleby, from Llan- wddyn action group, said it would be the first time Severn Trent had come to the village since July 2010.
He and other residents received an invitation to the session through their letterboxes this weekend.
“We want to know why Severn Trent has left it so long to come to meet us, we are still in the dark about Thursday’s event,” he said.
A spokesman for Severn Trent said the company had gone to the village several times. This included meeting council leaders and MPs.
It also attended the community council meeting on June 29, 2010 and held community/tenant days with sale agent Knight Frank.
The spokesman said: “We are looking forward to meeting with local residents at the session where they will have the opportunity to meet representatives from United Utilities and RSPB Cymru, learn more about them, and share their thoughts on the management of the holdings.
“Severn Trent Water staff will also be on-hand to provide an update on progress with the sale of the remainder of the estate.”
The company said it was in talks with tenants in the residential and commercial properties on an individual basis.
