Group opposes Welshpool shop alcohol licence
Friday 14th October 2011, 12:53PM BST.
An action group has been formed to fight a bid for a new Polish food shop in Welshpool to have a licence to sell alcohol.
Welshpool Town Council has objected to the application in the former Graham’s Fabrics building, in Cumberland Place. And now a Puzzle Square & Cumberland Place Residents & Traders Association has been formed to fight the bid.
The group has written to Powys County Council voicing concerns about the sale of alcohol from the premises.
Individual traders, tenants and owners of nearby homes and properties have also written to Powys County Council voicing fears of day and night disruption from an area already experiencing anti-social problems.
