Chamber of Commerce vice president resigns
Thursday 13th October 2011, 12:56PM BST.
The vice president of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce has resigned from the organisation after a row over who holds the balance of power.
Nick Chavasse had been due to take over the presidency from Anthony Randall, who has held the position for the past six years.
But Mr Chavasse, who runs NRG Direct Mail in Shrewsbury, has resigned after members agreed to let Mr Randall continue exercising power through a new executive position created for him when his term ends.
Mr Chavasse said the “blurring of boundaries” over decision-making would make his role as president impossible. He added: “I do not wish to assume the role of president without the power and authority to run the organisation.”
