Speed crackdown to start in Wem
Wednesday 12th October 2011, 8:17AM BST.
A police crackdown on speeding motorists is being launched in Wem after new figures revealed almost half of all drivers were breaking the limit.
A mobile speed camera will be put in place in Whitchurch Road next week because of the risks speeding drivers present to other road users.
The clampdown has being launched by the West Mercia Safer Roads Partnership.
Speed data collected by the Safer Roads Partnership over a period of about a week showed that 45 per cent of all vehicles exceeded the 30mph speed limit and 15 per cent of vehicles travelled above 39.2mph.
