Police officers in Powys have had to deal with an average of 30 scrap metal thefts a month so far this year, it was revealed today.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the thefts had cost businesses thousands of pounds and urged people to be vigilant.
Sergeant Kelvin Briggs, of Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We’ve had several cases recently of scrap being taken from driveways and gardens, including old cookers and washing machines. If you plan to sell these items on, don’t leave them on display.”
