Pair locked up for Telford burglary
Tuesday 11th October 2011, 9:00PM BST.
Residents in a Telford cul-de-sac discovered a neighbour’s house had been broken into after they became suspicious of two men who had called at the property and then driven off, a Shropshire court has heard.
Neighbours rang the police and when the car returned a little later, the men were arrested, Shrewsbury Crown Court was told.
Daniel Burns, 33, and Christopher David Hunt, 23, both of Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, Telford, were sentenced yesterday for the burglary that took place on July 20.
Burns received 876 days in custody after the court heard it was his third burglary offence.
Hunt was given a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years, with supervision during that time.
He was also ordered to pay £250 costs.
They both admitted burglary.
Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said residents in the cul-de-sac alerted the police after they became suspicious of Hunt sitting in a car outside a neighbour’s house and sounding his horn when they appeared.
Mr Gwynn Price-Rowlands, for Burns, said: At the time of the offence, he had lost his job and had ended up in unsuitable accommodation.”
Mr Mark Sharman, for Hunt, said he had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and his remorse was genuine.
