Glamour model Katie Price, aka Jordan, will visit Telford this month to sign copies of her latest book.

The 33-year-old will be appearing at Waterstones in Telford Shopping Centre on October 29 from 3pm following the release of her book ‘Santa Baby’.

Debbie Green, manager of the Telford store, said: “It’s been difficult for us to get her. We’ve fought long and hard to get her here.

“It’s great to give the customers something special to look forward to. I’m sure she has a lot of fans in the area who can’t wait to meet her.”

Miss Price, who has written dozens of books, will not be held to time constraints and has said she will sign every copy before leaving the store.

“It’s all part of the events schedule we’re trying to put into place,” added Ms Green.

Tickets will be allocated on the day based on a first come, first served basis.

As if the Town Centre didn’t have enough trashy chavs. Another reason not to shop there.

I’m sure she appreciates a free advert from the Star;)

One day, she might even have WRITTEN one of these books all by herself!

As it is, I doubt she has more than the sketchiest idea what is actually in the book she’s signing….

Ah this will be yet another book about nothing printed on re-cycled paper with awful photographs.

To appear in a charity shop near you very soon.

Who on earth buys books like this?

Peter the amazing thing is her autobiography is a top seller and she has made some serious money from basically being a well endowed bimbo! like my wife says she has done better than all of us in terms of making a very comfortable financial life??

Just another publicity stunt from a do-nothing bimbo. I bet she didn’t write one word of it. I thought Waterstones was a serious bookshop but will shop elsewhere in future.

You do realise that she’s not going to be a permanent fixture in Telford Waterstone’s don’t you? To avoid Jordan you really only need to stay away for a couple of hours on that particular Saturday.

I’m suprised she knows how to sign her name. She certainly didn’t write the book, Private Eye named her ghost writer a couple of weeks ago.

Oh, having been window shopping today, can the centre turn down the heating a bit, it must have been 80 degrees in the centre.

It’s harrowing to realise that trees will die* for this publication on behalf of a half baked, media-starved bimbette who must be reeling from the absolute shock of not appearing in a tabloid newspaper for a whole 47 minutes.

I presume there won’t be any hardback editions? It can be awfully tricky to write your name in crayon on the laminated sleeves…

Good grief Telford. Can’t you put a little more effort into bringing ‘actual’ celebrities into our mediocre lives? Brian Blessed, maybe? Joanna Lumley? Really, anyone will do as long as they’ve got something to offer other than potential charity shop stock…

*assuming it’ll be in block capitals, text-speak and 127 pages long, maybe not so many trees after all.

She is just a very astute business woman doing her job and supporting her family. Don’t be so bitter.

Astute business woman?. Is this this the Katie Price story still?.
        Sonic you astound me!
It’s just dawned on me Deborah Meadon really has got it all wrong. Never mind business takeovers, multi national companies and investments.
Topless Dragons Den is the way forward!.
Now where’s my “snobby” top hat, kane and smoking jacket?

I’d say there’s an awful lot of jealousy in many of the above blogs & I’d guess it’s because she has made an absolute fortune from being a ‘Bimbo’ while we either are or have slaved the 9 – 5 for a sum gross lifetimes income of less than her annual tax bill. Perhaps we don’t like to see those less educated than ourselves succeed seemingly effortlessly while we slog it out. I don’t know.

However, it’s hardly fair to pick on her alone while there are numerous others who appear to be brainless but we, the public, ‘buy’ the brand & make them rich.
Her future and that of many around her have been fully secured which in these times is something to be admired. She hasn’t stolen, cheated, or deceived (she’s not an MP). Like or loathe her, or even be somewhere in between, you can’t deny she is hugely successful. Well done her I say.

‘You can’t deny she is successful’…

All depends on how you define success.

I’ve always defined it as having an infinitely sized hole in my soul the shape of an ego that can only be filled with cosmetic surgery, being leered at for a living and a string of unhappy and seemingly PR calculated marriages.

So, yeah, she’s a success and anyone who doesn’t define success at a monetary level is a fool.

I’d agree with most of that and have nothing against her personally. The depressing thing is that Waterstones is our biggest book chain. Its dominance has helped put the likes of Borders, Dillons etc out of business.

Yet instead of ‘fighting long and hard’ to promote literature or encourage people to read ‘real’ books by bringing some writers of genuine standing, it’s ‘fought long and hard’ to bring a woman who, whatever her other qualities might be, is nothing but a product of our shallow, celebrity-obsessed times.

Of course, Waterstones don’t care about quality, they care only about the bottom line. Where that’s concerned, they’ve been successful, more’s the pity.

As per the previous comment … Who ??

The laughable thing about all this is that these people are meaningless. The media laud them as “celebrities” but in reality they are nobodies who happen to have some its-a-boring-no-news-day headlines written about them. “Jingo McTurk ate a Mars bar in the bath this morning” and so on. People who lap up stories about “celebrities” imagine that by doing so they are basking in some kind of tawdry reflected glory, to illuminate their own dry and dusty lives. Personally I’d rather read a REAL book written by someone with a REAL story to tell and who can write, spell, and use grammar – without the aid of a spellchecker or ghostwriter.

It’s just so disappointing that a shop like Waterstones would actually celebrate this kind of thing. (It’s akin to thes likes of Jodie Marsh promoting her line of crotchless knickers in Marks & Spencer). I know that Waterstones business isn’t exactly rosey right now, but surely they can do better. Hasn’t Pam Ayres got a new one out?

Waterstones is the place that I go to when I want quality books. I get my trashy airport reads from the Works. Surely Katie Price would find a better home there?
