Actor John Challis at Shrewsbury store signing
Saturday 8th October 2011, 12:45PM BST.
More than 100 Only Fools and Horses fans queued up at a county book store yesterday to meet the man behind one of the most-loved characters in the long-running comedy.
John Challis, who made his name as Boycie in the show, was at Waterstone’s in the High Street, Shrewsbury, yesterday afternoon to sign copies of his new autobiography.
Mr Challis, who also starred as the same character in Shropshire-based Only Fools and Horses spin-off The Green, Green Grass, chatted to fans for several hours as he promoted the book, which is entitled Being Boycie.
Jon Meek, manager of the store, said it had been a pleasure to meet the comedy star and the day had been a great success.
“It was absolutely fantastic. It was really busy and a real feel-good atmosphere in the shop,” he said.
