Oswestry man smashed in face with a bottle

A man needed 18 stitches after being hit in the face at an Oswestry night club. It was thought the victim was struck by a bottle.

Police today issued an appeal for witnesses to the assault that took place between 12.45am and 1.05am on Sunday at the Desire night club in Cross Street in the town centre.

The 20-year-old was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with cuts to his face. A 28-year-old man was arrested and released on conditional police bail. Witnesses should call Constable Simon Marland on 0300 333 3000.
