I am sorry that the couple were involved in an incident with a car and I wish them all the best in recovering from their injuries.
But from what’s said, they seem not to have been using one of the controlled crossings and obviously not one of the bridges or underpasses provided for the purpose of getting safely from one side of the road to the other. That’s not so clever.
On that basis I feel sorry for the car driver who was probably taken very much by surprise by pedestrians being in the carriageway.
