Parking bonus after council permit delay
Saturday 1st October 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Residents are parking for free near their homes in Bridgnorth after delays in bringing in charges for permits.
And the hold-up has meant Shropshire Council has lost out on a potential £30,000 of payments to cover administration and enforcement costs.
About 600 permits, which would usually cost £50 each, have been issued free by the authority this year.
The experimental on-street parking scheme for residents and businesses was set up for five zones in the town with households able to apply for up to two permits.
But the council says on its website that an amendment was needed to an experimental traffic regulation order which was due to be signed in September and further consultation was needed.
