Talks to resume over cuts at Shropshire Council
Friday 23rd September 2011, 10:59AM BST.
Union officials are to reopen talks with Shropshire Council bosses in a bid to end a pay cut dispute which sparked a walkout by hundreds of workers.
Bosses of Unison said yesterday’s strike action saw between 1,100 and 1,200 workers manning picket lines and services such as libraries and leisure centres closed across the county.
It followed a breakdown in negotiations between the authority and Unison about a planned 5.4 per cent pay cut and changes to terms and conditions.
But both sides met on Wednesday ahead of the strike and are now planning to restart talks next week.
