Objections to Oswestry area holiday park plans
Saturday 17th September 2011, 12:45PM BST.
Residents living near a planned 64-pitch holiday park near Oswestry are objecting to the scheme.
St Martins parish councillors say they fully support the plan for land at Gledrid Farm which will create eight jobs.
But some people living nearby have raised objections.
Among the objectors is Chirk Bank woman Maggie Rowlands who said although she supported the area’s tourism potential and the plan would help address the dearth of bed space, she had “serious reservations” about the bid.
She said she felt not enough background research had been done on the state of area behind Gledrid Farm and little thought had been given to the impact of the development on heritage, wildlife, transport, sewerage and water infrastructure and traffic management.
The application has been lodged by DW Dulson Ltd and would see land being used to form a touring caravan park and farm buildings converted to create four holiday lets.
A new access road would be formed.
Papers lodged with the council said the caravan park could give a maximum occupation of 254 people and would bring a boost to the area’s economy.
