A seven-year-old girl from Mid Wales has had her hair cut off to transform it into a wig for children with serious illnesses.

Jodie Bebb, from Churchstoke, underwent the cut at Harry Tuffins supermarket in the town on Thursday to help out the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs to children who have been suffering from cancer.

Her mum, Pam Bebb, said she was proud of her daughter’s decision and said she was delighted she was doing it for such a worthy cause.

She said: “My seven-year-old daughter Jodie decided that she wanted to cut her hair off in order to donate it to the Little Princess Trust to make a wig for an ill child.

“She had her hair cut off at Harry Tuffins supermarket and it will then be sent off in a tube to China where it will be turned into a wig for a child.

“It can be for children with serious conditions like cancer who have lost their hair though chemotherapy treatment and also for those with alopecia.

“I am very proud of her for what she is doing, it is a really lovely gesture from her and we are very proud.”

A spokesman for the trust said: “The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.

“We supply and fully fund the best wigs available from all over the world, especially designed for children. We also provide personal fitting and styling to ensure the wig is as close as possible to the original hair.

“For any parent, discovering your child has a serious illness like cancer or leukaemia is devastating. The trauma for both parent and child can be increased by worrying about the side effects of the treatment, particularly hair loss.

“We would like to thank Jodie and Pam for this gesture.”
