He is a comedy legend, still performing marathon shows at the age of 83.
Ken Dodd opened the Shifnal Festival last night with a four-hour show at the Haughton Hall Hotel.
But before he took to the stage, Mr Dodd told reporter Paul Mannion about his famous tickling sticks, his Shropshire relations and being evacuated to the county during the war. “But I soon evacuated myself back to Liverpool – I missed my mother’s cooking,” he said.

Went to see Ken Dodd in shifnal Tuesday evening, I have to say i laughed for the whole four hours,the man is a genius,i cannot understand why he is not yet Sir Ken Dodd!!! what a great evening what a great man.
