EastEnders and Rocky Horror on Oswestry Bargain Hunt
Monday 12th September 2011, 11:53AM BST.
EastEnders stars Perry Fenwick and Emma Barton joined the BBC Bargain Hunt regulars as they searched for some bargains in Shropshire yesterday – all in the name of charity.
Perry, who plays Billy Mitchell in the soap, and his former on-screen estranged wife, Honey, played by Emma Barton, were one of the teams in Celebrity Bargain Hunt, filmed at an antiques fair at Park Hall near Oswestry.
The programme will form part of the annual Children in Need evening on the BBC in November.
Up against the pair were Jodie Prenger, winner of I’d Do Anything, who went on to star as Nancy in the West End’s Oliver! and actor and writer Richard O’Brien, writer of The Rocky Horror Show and former host of cult Channel 4 gameshow The Crystal Maze.
Sheila Jackson, organiser of the Amulet Antique and Collectors’ Fair which hosted the Bargain Hunt filming, said the weekend was a great success.
“We had huge crowds, particularly on the Sunday when the celebrities were here.
“They seemed to enjoy themselves and were happy to sign autographs when they had breaks in the filming, which went on for much of the day.
She said the BBC crew was at the fair all weekend, filming other episodes for Bargain Hunt with presenter Tim Wonnacott and eight teams.
Mrs Jackson said: “The BBC crew and Tim always like to come to Oswestry. They say the fair is a great place for bargains and say they are treated well when we are here.
“I hope they will return to Shropshire for our fairs next year.”
