Wakeman School campaign will appeal against closure
Monday 5th September 2011, 1:06PM BST.
Campaigners hoping to save the Wakeman School have pledged to appeal against any decision to close it.
A meeting of Shropshire Council’s cabinet on Wednesday will decide whether the secondary school in Abbey Foregate should shut in August 2013.
But Andy Rayment, chairman of governors at the Wakeman, said any decision this week would not end the campaign to prevent the school’s closure.
“We would most definitely go to appeal,” he said.
He said the governors believed they had identified a number of problems with how the consultation process had been carried out.

Good on you Wakeman. If Shropshire Council gets away with this, which perfectly good school will they try and close next?
They break all the rules, rules that are in place for good reason, and they must be stopped……

Shouldn’t this read “A meeting of Shropshire Council’s cabinet on Wednesday will decide the secondary school in Abbey Foregate will shut in 2013.”?? Shropshire Council has been planning to close The Wakeman for years. God knows why.
Hopefully their poor judgement will come back to bite them in the bum and the good ship Wakeman will sail into a bright future.
