Sleeping man attacked in Telford
Monday 5th September 2011, 6:00PM BST.
A man who stopped for a lie down on a bench on the way home from a night out in Telford fell asleep – and was woken by two other men punching him in the face and robbing him.
The 40-year-old suffered a broken cheekbone and had an MP3 player and wallet stolen in the attack, which happened on Saturday.
Police said he had been at The Thomas Botfield pub in Central Square, Telford, when he decided to walk home at about 12.30am.
Detective Constable Dave Walker said: “He suffered serious injuries, including a broken cheekbone and at present is still in hospital.”
Witnesses can call Telford police on 0300 333 3000.
