Two bailed in Newtown Prowler hunt
Saturday 3rd September 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Two men have been released on bail by police hunting the ‘Newtown Prowler’.
A total of 29 thefts from cars were recorded in Newtown during August, with 16 originally linked to a culprit described as a prowler by police.
Inspector John Tatton, of Dyfed Powys Police, said two men were arrested yesterday and bailed pending further inquires.
He said: “During August there were a total of 29 incidents of thefts from cars, which is two crimes more than the same period last year.
“As a result of these crimes, patrols have been stepped up in the area and two people have so far been arrested, one in Newtown and one in Llanidloes, in relation to these and other offences. Both are on bail currently, pending further inquiries.”
