Wilfred Owen poetry plans for Oswestry

Bronze poems by Oswestry’s most famous son, Wilfred Owen, could be installed in the town, if plans come to fruition.
Oswestry Chamber of Commerce has been mulling over ideas to help boost tourism in the town.
One suggestion to help increase footfall at one end of the town was to install bronze poems into the pavements at the end of Church Street.

hmm, use poems written by a talented man struck by the horrors of war. Poems that were written to express his emotions, fears and hopes. poems written on the futility of a nation sending soul after soul into cruel battle. Poems written with no thought to the author gaining fame and fortune but as a vehicle to express his grief…
Lets use him to squeeze a few pence out of some tourist shall we?
Celebrate your famous “son” by all means but not to line yer pockets.
