Shropshire’s driest spring for years

Shropshire had less than half its average rainfall in spring, new figures released by the Met Office revealed today as the organisation said this summer was set to be Britain’s coolest in nearly 20 years.
Spokesman Dan Williams said Shropshire had endured a particularly dry spring and while June and July were almost as wet as normal, the county suffered another extremely dry spell in August. Nationally the mean temperature has been 13.63C (56.53F), close to 1993’s 13.39C (56.1F), provisional figures for June 1 to August 29 show.
