Plan to honour actor Pete Postlethwaite with sculpture

A “living” sculpture may be created in memory of Shropshire’s Oscar-nominated actor Pete Postlethwaite at his birthplace.

Mr Postlethwaite, who lived in Shropshire for more than 20 years, is being honoured in Warrington.

Officials last week renamed a rehearsal studio in his honour, at the Pyramid Arts Centre, in Warrington.

Its new name is the Postlethwaite Studio. But councillors want to do more to recognise his contribution to arts, culture and the environment.

Mr Postlethwaite, who lived near Bishop’s Castle, died in January from cancer. He was 64.
