Hospital friends win praise for cash aid

Two charity organisations have donated nearly £400,000 in just five months to help buy new equipment at Shropshire’s two main hospitals, it has been revealed.

The Friends of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Friends of Princess Royal Hospital in Telford have been praised by health bosses for their invaluable support after a report to the board meeting of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

The report showed the Friends of RSH donated £196,253.99 between April and August this year while the Friends of PRH gave £188,012.

The money helped pay for items including £159,000 of mammography equipment for the radiology department at PRH and a £56,000 ultrasound scanner for the maternity unit at RSH.
