Two sent to prison over punch-up

Two men have been jailed for three years over carrying out a “brutal” attack on another man who suffered a broken jaw from repeated punches.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard yesterday the victim, Jonathan Wisener, had been attacked by Gavin Pilsbury and Matthew Speed.

Pilsbury, 27, of George Street, Whitchurch, and Speed, 26, of Wayland Close, also Whitchurch were found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The court heard that the incident happened on May 30 last year after a confrontation inside the town’s civic centre.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones, in sentencing the two men, said Mr Wisener was repeatedly punched which caused him to fall to the ground.

He said the assault had continued despite the victim being unconscious.

His head was then stamped on.
